Auto-Bidding for Cricket Auctions

Several league organizers have asked for a proxy-bid style feature — a team owner sets a ceiling for a player before the auction starts, and the system bids up to that ceiling on their behalf if a rival team pushes the price. We think it's genuinely useful for owners who can't watch every single lot, which is why it's on our roadmap, but it isn't in the product today.

Why organizers use this

  • Would let absent team owners set a maximum bid in advance
  • Would reduce the need for a proxy person physically present at the auction
  • Would still respect manual override at any point during bidding

Typical use cases

  • A franchise owner travelling on auction day who wants a ceiling honoured automatically
  • A committee auctioning at midnight (common for IPL-style watch parties) where not every manager stays awake for every lot

Frequently asked questions

Is Auto-bidding available today?
Auto-bidding is on our roadmap and not yet shipped. We would rather tell you that upfront than have you discover it mid-auction — ask our team for the current build status before you plan your event around it.
What can I use instead of auto-bidding today?
Most organizers assign a co-manager or committee member to bid on behalf of an absent owner using an agreed ceiling, communicated over a call or message before the lot comes up.
Will auto-bidding change how purses are tracked?
No — even with proxy bidding, purse deduction would follow the same live rules already used for manual bids, so team budgets stay accurate either way.
Can I request early access when it ships?
Yes, reach out to our support contacts and we'll flag your organization when auto-bidding moves from roadmap to beta.
