Why we didn't build a native app

Requiring an app store download adds friction for exactly the people who need the least of it — players registering once, and spectators watching a single event. A browser-based experience means anyone with a link and internet access can participate immediately.

What 'app-like' really means here

The console and displays behave like a purpose-built app — fast, focused screens rather than a general website — the only difference is you reach it through a link instead of an app icon.

Yes, the registration form, console, and public display are all built to work in a mobile browser, which is how many organizers and players actually access it.

Will a native app be built in the future?

It's not on our near-term roadmap — the web-based approach removes install friction, which has been the right trade-off for most of our current organizers.
