Auction Budget & Squad Rules Management

Before the first player comes up, organizers decide the numbers that will govern the whole night: total purse per team, minimum bid increment, base price for icon versus standard players, and how many players a squad must have at minimum and can have at maximum. Once bidding goes live, these rules lock so nobody can quietly change them mid-auction.

Why organizers use this

  • Base price can differ for icon players versus the general pool
  • Minimum bid increment keeps bidding pace predictable in fast rounds
  • Minimum and maximum squad size per team prevent lopsided rosters
  • Rules lock automatically once the auction goes live, avoiding disputes
  • Overseas or category caps can be set where a league needs them

Typical use cases

  • An IPL-style league capping overseas or outstation players per squad
  • A club auction that wants a higher floor price for its icon/marquee players
  • A tournament enforcing a strict minimum squad size so no team is left short on match day

Frequently asked questions

Can rules be changed after the auction has started?
No — rules lock once the auction goes live specifically so no team can dispute a mid-event change. Adjust everything you need to before hitting start.
What is an icon player base price?
Some leagues want marquee or 'icon' players to start bidding from a higher floor than the standard pool. You can set that base price separately from the standard base price.
Can I cap the number of players per role, like overseas players?
Yes, category-level rules (like a maximum overseas player count) can be configured so teams can't accidentally build an unbalanced squad.
What happens to unsold rules — do players go up again?
You choose the unsold policy for your auction, including whether unsold players are queued for a re-auction round later in the event.
